Adra Young is a Native of Gary Indiana, and has over twenty years of experience with the youth in and out of the classroom environment. Serving for the Detroit Impact Center as a Social Skills provider she pinpointed the lack of resources available for both middle and high school students within the urban setting. Creating a curriculum specifically to address the concerns of youngsters facing overwhelming social dynamics, her program was well received and utilized in several Detroit Schools. During her years with the Detroit Public School system, she served as a liaison for the “Conversation about Race” project which addressed the direct concerns of African American males at Eastern Michigan University. In 2013, she achieved international book reviewer’s status and became a food critic within the south east region of Michigan. In 2014, she hosted the Cooks and Books show a weekly segment on Urban Nation Radio dedicated to literary artist, and foodies far and wide. Certified in Suicide Intervention and Color it Real HIV and Substance Abuse Training, she is the author of three books. Her latest book, The Misfits is a fictional read based upon the middle school bullying experience.
